Michael R. Winter, MPH
Director, Statistical Programming & Data Management
Boston University School of Public Health
Biostatistics and Epidemiology Data Analytics Center

As the Director of Statistical Programming and Data Management at the Biostatistics and Epidemiology Data Analytics Center (BEDAC) at Boston University School of Public Health (BUSPH), I have dedicated over 35 years to BUSPH and BEDAC in various roles, including data manager, statistical analyst, and director. I lead a team of highly skilled data professionals who provide comprehensive data management, processing, and analytic support to researchers across the BU Medical Campus, including the School of Public Health, the Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, and the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, as well as the BU Charles River Campus and Boston Medical Center. Additionally, we extend our support to researchers at hospitals and institutions throughout the greater Boston area and beyond.

With graduate-level training in epidemiology and biostatistics, I bring extensive experience in project and data management, statistical programming, and statistical analysis in public health research. Throughout my career, I have contributed to a diverse array of projects, including several international multi-site studies and randomized clinical trials. I have co-authored nearly 200 peer-reviewed journal articles and have a proven track record of successful and productive research collaborations with both academic and industry partners.

Throughout my career, I have been actively involved in mentoring graduate students and entry-level analysts at BEDAC, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their academic and professional goals. This includes offering personalized advice on data management and programming techniques, statistical methodologies, and career development strategies. I also organize and lead training sessions to enhance their skills in statistical programming and data management, fostering a collaborative and supportive learning environment. My commitment to mentoring has helped shape the next generation of public health researchers, ensuring they are well-equipped to tackle complex health challenges.
