Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility

Diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility (DEIA) are the cornerstones for practice of medicine in our effort to combat structural racism. As part of my clinical work, I systematically evaluated disparities in access to and uptake of COVID-19 therapeutics as well as injectable anti-retroviral therapy with the goal to proactively developing workflows to reduce disparities in healthcare access. Additionally, in my role as the BMC site PI for NIH's RECOVER Initiative for Researching COVID to Enhance Recovery, we developed a community engagement table with the goal of developing sustainable community partnerships that will last beyond the COVID-19 research efforts. Similarly MA_CEAL (Community engagement alliance) project aims to increase long COVID education among migrant, socioeconomically, racially/ethnically disadvantaged communities. I strongly believe that proactive education and engagement in clinical research of these communities is extremely important in advancement of science and I remain committed to being a champion for this cause.
