I am an experienced hospitalist and medical educator with a focus on graduate medical education, faculty development, global health, hospital operations, and health equity. My clinical work since residency has been with urban marginalized populations, while my international work has focused on strengthening educational systems. I have served as a medical director or associate program director since 2016, including coordinating the floor teams throughout BMC's COVID-19 surges.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility

I have made health equity a cornerstone of my career, and have sought to work for marginalized populations in both my domestic and international positions. We have marked challenges in US healthcare, but especially in the safety net, between the racial and economic makeup of our workforce and that of the populations seeking care. I am active with my Section’s Antiracism Working Group, and through this have assisted with initiatives to improve retention of underrepresented in medicine faculty, better evaluate faculty salary by race, and pull in more DEI topics into our grand rounds. My global health work, focused on medical and nursing education in Haiti, has as its primary focus work to reduce inequity in global access to education; I have also helped to develop the Global Health Education for Equity AntiRacism and Decolonization (GHEARD) curriculum hosted by the AAP that aims to improve trainee awareness of these matters prior to global health work. With the onset of COVID-19 and concurrent political unrest in Haiti reducing my ability to travel, I have been working in carceral health advocacy, partnering with Prisoner Legal Services – Massachusetts to write petitions for medical parole for appropriate prisoners and to provide education to trainees and providers throughout the BMC system.
