Dr. LaMorte received his MD from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and received a PhD in biochemistry and an MPH from Boston University. He has been a faculty member at Boston University for more than 30 years. Courses currently taught include EP713 Introduction to Epidemiology and PH717 Quantitative Methods for Public Health. Previously Dr. LaMorte also taught PH510 Introduction to Public Health; PH709 The Biology of Public Health; and an online course, HC751 "Introduction to Epidemiology for the Health Communicator" for the Master of Science in Health Communication at Boston University's College of Communications. He is currently the Assistant Dean for Education at Boston University School of Public Health.

Dr. LaMorte has received many awards for teaching, including The Norman A. Scotch Award for Excellence in Teaching, the 2009 BU SPH Educational Innovation Award, the 2011 Metcalf Award for Excellence in Teaching, and the 2014 Innovation Award from the Massachusetts Environmental Health Association. He has been an innovator in the creation of interactive online learning resources for public health education.

Dr. LaMorte is also a contributor to the Local Public Health Institute of Massachusetts, which provides training to the public health work force in the 351 communities in Massachusetts. Additional research and teaching interests include: teaching effectiveness, online education, distance learning, web-based teaching tools, online teaching modules, biology and public health, and community-based practice.
