Dr. Liu is originally from Beijing, China, where he received his initial dental education at the prestigious Peking University School of Stomatology. Dr. Liu also completed a residency in pediatric dentistry and holds a Master of Oral Biology from Peking. He practiced as a pediatric (children’s) dentist in China from 2000 to 2005, and was both the leading clinical instructor and assistant professor for pre- and post-doctoral training in the University’s Department of Pediatrics during that time. Dr. Liu enrolled in Boston University School of Dental Medicine with advanced standing in 2008, and was awarded both his D.M.D. and Certificate in Endodontics from BU, where he was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Oral Biology and Periodontology.
Dr. Liu is currently a clinical investigator in Forsyth Faculty Associates at the Forsyth Institute in Boston, a member of the Board of Resident’s Committee in the Academy of Microscopy Enhanced Dentistry (AMED), and he has maintained his academic and teaching ties with China where he is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Endodontics at Peking University.
Dr. Liu has been involved in both clinical and basic science research since 1997. He is an author and presenter on topics ranging from new techniques and materials in restorative pediatric dentistry, dental pulp and bone marrow stem cell research, inflammatory cells in diabetes and periodontal disease, and gene mutations.
