Lauren Easterling is the Assistant Provost for Graduate and Postdoctoral Development and lead of the Graduate and Postdoctoral Success team (formerly Professional Development and Postdoctoral Affairs). She is also an Assistant Professor of Medical Sciences & Education at the BU Chobanian & Avesidian School of Medicine. Lauren completed her PhD in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University Bloomington School of Education. She also holds a Master of Divinity degree and a bachelors degree (BSEd) in Secondary Education – Mathematics.

Lauren joins BU after over nine years working in the field of graduate student and postdoctoral scholar professional and career development at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, IN. While at IU, Lauren developed a comprehensive professional and career development program for PhD students and postdocs, a program focused on preparing PhD students and postdocs for teaching, training, and mentoring roles, and support structures to improve the experiences of postdocs and students through policy and process changes.

She is currently a member of the Executive Committee for the Graduate Career Consortium, a nonprofit organization for staff and faculty whose work includes the professional and career development of graduate students and postdocs. Lauren has also been active in the National Postdoctoral Association, the POD Network for Higher Education, and the American Association for Anatomy, with a focus in each case on improving the experiences of graduate students and postdocs.
