Colleen E. Laurence, MD, MPH is an Attending Emergency Medicine Physician at Boston Medical Center and an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. Her research focuses on accessibility and delivery of comprehensive, trauma-informed emergency care for immigrant populations and realization of language justice in emergency care in the United States. In her research and implementation work, she to endeavors to embrace community engaged research and the equitable and the sensitive engagement of historically marginalized populations in research. Her early work focused on a clinic-based smartphone app developed to support people living with HIV, which was recognized by the CDC in 2019 as an Evidence-Informed Intervention for Retention in HIV Care.

Dr. Laurence completed her medical degree at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, her Emergency Medicine residency training at the University of Cincinnati where she also served as Chief Resident, and a Local Health Equity Fellowship at Boston Medical Center.
