Dr. Batal is an Assistant Professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine. He graduated with a dental degree from Damascus University, Syria, and then completed his DMD training through the Advanced Standing program at GSDM. He is a 2003 graduate of the Boston University oral and maxillofacial surgery training program . Dr. Batal joined the full-time faculty in 2003 when he was appointed Clinical Director of the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery outpatient clinic at BMC. He has also held the position of Director of the one-year Pre-Residency Internship program from 2004–2011 and currently holds administrative appointments as Director of Clinical Services and Quality Assurance. Dr. Batal’s interests include surgical management of facial trauma, hard and soft-tissue implant surgery, and treatment of odontogenic cysts and tumors. He is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Batal is extensively published in dental literature and is involved in clinical research extensively in the field of implant surgery. He continues to give numerous continuing education courses in the filed of advanced implantology.
