Dr. VanDeusen Lukas, EdD, is Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management. She also directs Boston University’s Safety Net ACTION Partnership II, a coalition of researchers and healthcare service delivery systems that participate in the Agency for Healthcare for Research and Quality’s program, Accelerating Change and Transformation in Organizations and Networks (ACTION II, to conduct delivery-system implementation research. Dr. VanDeusen Lukas is also Senior Investigator at the Center for Organization, Leadership and Management Research (COLMR) in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Her research focuses on organizational change and transformation, system redesign and implementation of innovative practices. Prior to joining the faculty, she worked extensively in government, serving as an assistant commissioner at both the Massachusetts Department of Medical Security and the Department of Public Welfare, and as associate director for policy at the Institute for Urban Health Policy and Research at the Boston Department of Health and Hospitals. She has also directed a wide range of evaluation and policy studies at private research firms. She has a doctorate from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a master’s degree in social psychology from the University of Wisconsin.
