Dr. Yasmine Elhefnawy is a Pediatric Neurologist at Boston Medical Center. She is the director of the pediatric Headache program, and she has clinical and research contributions to the pediatric pain program.
She graduated from medical school at Cairo University, Cairo/Egypt, in 2010, Suma Cum Laude. She then pursued a pediatric residency in the Middle East before moving to the United States with her family. She completed her pediatric residency at Hurley Medical Center/Michigan State University in Flint, Michigan. There, she gained experience and developed an interest in serving underrepresented and marginalized populations. Dr. Elhefnawy is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). She then completed her pediatric neurology training at Boston Medical Center/Boston University and obtained certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). Dr. Elhefnawy remained on the faculty at Boston Medical Center and was appointed Assistant Professor at Boston University. Dr. Elhefnawy’s primary interest is pediatric headaches and pain disorders. Dr. Elhefnawy is also interested in community outreach and in serving patients with complex care needs. She runs multiple satellites to enhance access to care. She is a contracted pediatric neurologist at Pappas Rehabilitation Children's Hospital in Canton, Massachusetts. She is also the primary neurologist for the residents of Seven Hills Children Center in Groton, Massachusetts.
Dr. Elhefnawy’s research interests include examining the impacts of Health Related Social Needs on patients’ satisfaction and health outcomes, as well as exploring models of collaboration between health care providers and schools to promote migraine care.
