Dr. Trudy Van Houten is an Assistant Professor of Anatomy and Neurobiology at the Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine and has been affiliated with BUSM for over 20 years. She is also a part-time Lecturer on Radiology for Harvard Medical School at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Additionally, she is an instructor for Harvard University On-line Learning.

Dr. Van Houten has designed, launched, and directed many clinical and pre-clinical anatomy electives throughout her career, while developing novel anatomical dissection strategies and learning materials based on clinical procedures and surgical approaches. She has worked as both the Director of the Clinical Applications of Anatomy course and as the Co-Director of the Human Body course for Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Van Houten received her PhD in Anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania, her MA from Temple University, and BA from Arcadia University. She is a proactive instructor and has received both the Faculty Prize for Excellence in Teaching and the Irving M London Teaching Award at Harvard Medical School.
