Sheela Maru, MD, MPH is an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the Boston University School of Medicine. She completed a Global Women’s Health Fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and continues to advocate for women's reproductive rights. She is the current Director of the Section of Global Women’s Health in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the Boston University School of Medicine. Since 2014, she advises for Possible, a healthcare non-profit. Her research interests are providing access to reproductive health services for rural women in South Asia, maternal mortality reduction, group care models, refugee women’s health and healthcare responses to gender-based violence.
