In addition to serving as the inaugural Director of the Center for Innovation in Social Work and Health, Dr. Bachman is also the Paul Farmer Professor at the Boston University School of Social Work and Research Associate Professor of Health Law Policy and Management at the Boston University School of Public Health. She has 20 years experience with health policy research and program evaluation, especially in the area of state health policy for youth and adults with disabilities or complex health and social conditions.

She is currently the Principal Investigator of the Catalyst Center, one of six national centers funded to improve financing of care for children with special health care needs. Dr. Bachman previously served as Co-Principal Investigator of HRSA’s SPNS Innovations in Oral Health Evaluation and Technical Support Center. She has participated in several studies of access to health care services for adults and children with disabilities across the spectrum of disability. Dr. Bachman received her Ph.D. from Brandeis University’s Florence Heller School, where she was a Pew Health Policy Fellow. She chairs the Boston University Charles River Campus Institutional Review Board.
