Kevin Nguyen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Law, Policy, and Management at the Boston University School of Public Health and co-director of the BU Medicaid Policy Lab. His research examines the roles of Medicaid policies and care delivery reforms on quality and equity of care, with expertise in Medicaid managed care. His work leverages econometric methods and varied data sources (all-payer claims data, electronic health records, patient surveys, provider directories, and patient registries). Ongoing work spans the topics of Medicaid managed care plan performance, Medicaid accountable care organizations (ACOs), safety net program participation, and inequities in patient experiences of care.

He completed his PhD in Health Services Research at Brown University School of Public Health in 2021 and received a MS in Health Policy and Management at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He previously worked at RTI International, where he worked to implement quality provisions of the Affordable Care Act. He currently serves as Senior Associate Editor for the Journal of Ambulatory Care Management. His work has been covered by outlets including NPR, Kaiser Health News, and US News & World Report.
