Dr. Julia L. Cusano is a postdoctoral associate in the Occupational Therapy Department. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology from University of Delaware and her PhD in social work from Rutgers University in 2023. Her research focuses on intimate partner and sexual violence, with an emphasis on using ecological frameworks to examine prevention and response. Dr. Cusano has experience in designing and implementing quantitative and qualitative studies with college students to measure their knowledge, attitudes and behaviors related to intimate partner and sexual violence, with a focus on campus climate. In 2014, she was part of a research team asked to collaborate with the White House Task Force to Protect Students from Sexual Assault through the testing of a campus climate survey tool. Dr. Cusano was appointed to the Safe and Inclusive Campus Committee as part of the New Jersey State Plan for Higher Education. Her research has been published in journals including American Journal of College Health, Violence Against Women, Journal of Interpersonal Violence, Health Education and Behavior, and Journal of Evidence-Based Social Work.
