Dr. John B. Cadigan III has been a member of the Cardiovascular division at the Brigham and Woman’s Hospital in Boston since 2018. He currently holds a teaching appointment at Harvard Medical School and was formally an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine

He attended Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine, and did his training for his internship and residency at the Boston City Hospital. His Cardiovascular fellowship was at Boston University Medical Center. He is board certified in Internal medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

Dr Cadigan was Chief of Cardiology and Director of the ICU/CCU at Norwood Hospital for over 10 years, and was President of the Medical Staff from 1998-1999. He became the Chief of Cardiology at the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital and served as the President of the Medical Staff from 2018-2020.

He has over 30 years of clinical experience in treating Cardiovascular Diseases, and has a particular clinical interest in identifying occult heart disease in young adults, with specific aims at preventing sudden cardiac death. He is nationally recognized as an advocate for ECG screening. He testified in 2015 before the Texas House and Senate committees for a bill mandating that all high school athletes in that state be educated on the benefit of receiving a screening ECG in addition to the usual sports physical. Texas finally passed that law and Pennsylvania followed. Four other states have similar legislation pending.
