Jennifer A. Tran, MD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine and is a fellowship-trained cataract, cornea, and refractive surgeon.

A Boston native, Dr. Tran received her BA from Boston University with Honors as a Thomas M. Menino Scholar. Prior to starting medical school, she conducted research on corneal wound healing at the Schepens Eye Research Institute. She went on to earn her MD from the Boston University School of Medicine, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Tran completed Ophthalmology residency at Mass Eye & Ear (MEE), during which time she received the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) Resident Excellence Award and the MEE Resident Peer Recognition Award. She subsequently completed a fellowship in Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery at MEE, serving as the Chief Fellow.

Her areas of interest and expertise include:

- Cataract surgery (including femtolaser-assisted cataract surgery, secondary intraocular lenses)
- Corneal transplantation (including Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty [DMEK], Descemet stripping endothelial keratoplasty [DSAEK], and penetrating keratoplasty [PK])
- Refractive surgery (including laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis [LASIK], photorefractive keratectomy [PRK], and implantable collamer lenses [ICL])
- Anterior segment reconstruction
- Dry eye disease
- Corneal dystrophies (including keratoconus)

Dr. Tran’s work has been published in multiple peer-reviewed journals such as Ophthalmology, Cornea, and Scientific Reports. She is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
