MA, Stony Brook University

Dr. Jenna Sung is an Assistant Professor in the Counseling Psychology & Applied Human Development Department at Boston University’s Wheelock College of Education & Human Development, where she directs the Lab for Expanding Access for Families (LEAF). Her research focuses on expanding access to evidence-based mental health care for youth and caregivers, particularly those facing socioeconomic barriers.

She develops and tests brief, scalable digital interventions—especially single-session interventions (SSIs)—designed to reach individuals who may not access traditional psychotherapy. Her work emphasizes supporting caregivers as a key pathway to improving youth mental health.

Grounded in user-centered design and real-world implementation, Dr. Sung partners with schools, healthcare systems, and community organizations to deploy these interventions at scale and study their impact. Her work is supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the International OCD Foundation, and reflects a broader goal of building scalable, equitable systems of care that meet families where they are.
