Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility

As the program director of the Nutrition and Metabolic Disease Fellowship and core faculty of the Endocrinology fellowship, I strive to increase the diversity of trainees within our programs. I also serve as a co-lead with Ivania Rizo, MD for the implementation of the THRIVE screener in BMC Bariatric surgery clinic to screen our patients for unmet social needs and provide resources. We are also exploring through quantitative and qualitative research what social determinants of health are associated with weight regain in our patient population and what resources we can utilize to better assist our patients with weight loss.
