Dr. Acker is originally from Israel. She earned her Medical Degree at Ben-Guiron University of the Negev in Israel in 1986. In 1988 she completed her internship at the Transitional Soroka Medical Center in Israel.

After relocating to the United States with her family, Dr. Acker entered the Family Practice Residency Program at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis in 1993, graduating in 1996. Subsequently, she remained another year at the Methodist / Indiana University Family Practice in order to complete a Fellowship in Family Practice Teaching and administration.

Dr. Acker joined the Danver's Family Practice center and Residency Program Faculty in September 1997. In February of 1998, she became Medical Director of the Family Practice Center. since August 2000, Dr. Acker has been the Acting Program Director of the Family Practice Residency Program until its closure in December 2002. She is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Society of Teachers in Family Medicine and the Massachusetts Medical Society. Dr. Acker is board certified by the American Board of Family Practice.

Dr. Acker lives in Swampscott with her husband and four children.
