Dr. Tsouknidas is a Fulbright scholar and visiting Assistant Professor of the Department of Restorative Sciences & Biomaterials. His research focuses on Biomedical Engineering with an emphasis on the application of Biomechanics and Biomaterials in Dentistry. He joins BU from the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Western Macedonia in Greece, where he serves as an Associate Professor and Director for both, the Laboratory of Biomaterials and Computational Mechanics and the MSc in Biomedical Engineering. He is Co-founder of PLiN Nanotechnology S.A., a research driven start-up, which received VC funding during his tenure as the company’s CEO and President.
He has also been appointed as an External Reviewer of the World Health Organization (WHO) concerning group-specific guidelines for manufactured nanomaterials and is the President of the Hellenic Society of Biomechanics, to the board of which he was firstly elected in 2013. Alexander serves the Editorial Board of various citation-indexed journals and has published more than 60 scientific articles.
