Dr. Sanchez joined the BUSM community as an Assistant Professor of Surgery in January 2010. She is Director of Bariatric Surgery and a staff surgeon at VA Boston Healthcare System (VABHS). She also serves as surgery program site director for BMC surgical residents as well as program director for anesthesia interns in surgery. Dr. Sanchez participated in the Student Promotion and Evaluation Committee at BUSM.

Dr. Sanchez received her BA from Harvard and her medical degree from University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. She completed her residency in general surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital, followed by a research fellowship in surgical oncology at the National Institutes of Health and clinical fellowships in laparoscopic surgery at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital and in bariatric surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.
