2016 - Served as mentor in a pilot of Duke University Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering’s Summer High School Outreach Program (SHOP), an effort to bring high school students from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds into engineering research. I led one-on-one instruction with mentees over the summer, culminating in a research poster presentation titled “Activity Classification using Biopotential Signals,” which won first place in a faculty panel judgment of all high school participants’ entries.

2016 - 2018 - Mentored four junior peers through the Biomedical Engineering PhD First Year Mentor program at Duke University through informal meetings to help ease student’s transition into graduate school and build community within our department.

2017 - 2018 - Founded an initiative to introduce undergraduates from Duke University’s Office of Pre-Health Advising into clinic shadowing at a busy outpatient clinic as a first exposure to clinical reality for aspiring physicians. Students observed clinical practices, timed visit durations, and produced a research poster presented at the AMIA Clinical Informatics Conference in 2018.

2022 - Worked with high school students from the Girls Computing League Non-Profit Organization, which aims to bring underrepresented students into STEM fields. Under my mentorship students iterated on a Clinical Trial Selector Platform in collaboration with VA technical staff, and had an abstract accepted to present their work as a talk at the AMIA Clinical Informatics Conference in 2023.
