Dr Luigi Migliorini is a Senior Advisor to the NCD European Office in Moscow and to the Regional director for Europe.

Dr Migliorini graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1982. He specialized in internal medicine, with a focus on geriatric medicine, and gained a diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the University of Liverpool (United Kingdom) and was awarded a master’s degree in Public Health from Boston University (United States of America).

He has started his international career working as a clinical doctor with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Aid Agency, first in Mozambique and then in the Balkans (Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina). He continued with WHO, as Head of the Humanitarian Assistance Office in Albania, Serbia and Montenegro (his period in charge included the Kosovo conflict).

He was the WHO Representative in Turkey during the Avian Flu outbreak and the WHO Special Representative in the Russian Federation.

He was then appointed Senior Advisor to the WHO Regional Director for Europe.

Since 2003 Dr Luigi Migliorini has also been Adjunct Professor at the Boston University School of Public Health.
