Dr. Magauran has been a part of BMC for nearly a quarter century, starting with his training in Emergency Medicine at Boston City Hospital. He has held various administrative leadership positions in the Emergency Department, including Associate Medical Director, Medical Director for the East Newton and Menino Pavilions, Clinical Director of Operations, and Vice Chair for Administration. He has been active in the Medical Dental Staff at BMC and recently completed two years as the Secretary/Treasurer and is now currently serving as the Vice president and President-Elect of the Medical Dental staff. Most recently Brendan has been serving as BMC’s first Physician Adviser for Utilization Management.

Dr. Magauran received his MD from Brown University and earned an MBA in Healthcare Management also from Boston University. He was a member of the National Business Honor Society, Beta Gamma Sigma, and a Hartford Foundation Scholar where he completed a fellowship in Geriatric Emergency Medicine. He has edited a number of editions of the North American Clinics of Emergency Medicine and co-edited a textbook on the principles and practice of Geriatric Emergency Medicine.
