Research Expertise & Professional Interests Dr. Shih has research interests in gait and cognition in Parkinson's disease and related diseases and their digital signatures and innovation in deep brain stimulation for Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor and dystonia. Her work includes the use of wearable sensors and other objective methods to assess and characterize tremor, gait and related neurologic impairments and has been funded by the Michael J. Fox Foundation and the Consortia for Improving Medicine with Innovation and Technology (CIMIT). Her research interests also include clinical and translational research into novel methods of detection and management of gait, Parkinson’s disease and related disorders, including essential tremor, atypical parkinsonism and ataxia. She serves on the Medical Advisory Board for the International Essential Tremor Foundation, the International Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Society Tremor Study Group and previously served on the Steering Committee for the Registry for Advancement of Deep Brain Stimulation Therapy for Parkinson’s Disease (RAD-PD). She is a member of the Parkinson Study Group (PSG), Tremor Research Group, Movement Disorder Society, American Academy of Neurology and American Neurological Association.
