Stephanie Charles is a Family Physician dedicated to improving the health of marginalized and underserved individuals, medical education, women’s health, and health equity. Her primary academic interest focuses on medical student education where she serves as an Academic Medical Educator teaching a diverse body of medical students while creating an inclusive environment. She also enjoys advising medical students as they begin to explore careers in medicine. Through her support, she encourages both medical students and residents to address the social determinants of health that influence the health outcome of patients. She has served as a member of the Special Leadership Search Committee (SLSC) whose mission is to encourage diversity and inclusion within the Family Medicine Department in order to ensure fair and equal hiring practices for candidates interested in pursuing leadership positions. Her clinical interest lies in serving as a health care provider and resource for mostly underserved and marginalized populations . She has served as physician lead of Mattapan Community health Centers Complex Diabetes Group whose goal has to been to address both the medical as well as social barriers contributing to uncontrolled diabetes in high risk populations.
