Dr. Mehra is Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) at Boston University and Chief of the Department of OMS at Boston Medical Center. He graduated valedictorian from King George’s Medical College, Lucknow, India, and from the Doctor of Dental Medicine program at the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM). He completed his OMS Residency from the combined training program between Boston University and Tufts University. Following graduation, he did a fellowship in Maxillofacial Reconstructive Surgery at the Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. His clinical interests include surgical treatment of obstructive sleep apnea and complex functional and esthetic facial reconstruction including Orthognathic, TMJ and Cosmetic Surgery. Dr. Mehra is the Editor of two textbooks- one on Minimally Invasive Facial Cosmetic Surgery and another on Minor Oral Surgery. He has over 80 publications in medical and dental journals and textbooks and is frequently invited to lecture at national and international meetings. He is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He was elected in 2009 as the Massachusetts delegate to the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and is presently serving his third consecutive term in that position. Dr. Mehra is presently a Director of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He serves as a consultant to the Commission on Dental Accreditation and is a Past President of the Massachusetts Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
