Patrece L. Joseph, PhD
Assistant Professor
Boston University School of Public Health
Community Health Sciences

PhD, Tufts University

Dr. Patrece Joseph is a community-engaged and mixed methods researcher with a background in adolescent health and development. While her previous research focused on reducing minoritized adolescents’ risks for adulthood chronic conditions by designing culturally and developmentally appropriate intervention and prevention programs, she has shifted to exploring the intersections of stress, community violence, trauma and health in low-income communities of color and among Black and Latinx youth. Her research interests include: (1) exploration of community trauma, structural racism, and substance use and psychological distress among Black and Latinx youth and adults exposed to community violence, (2) community-driven interventions that address community trauma, and (3) novel approaches in community-engaged research.
