Dr. Murray Marks is an Adjunct Associate Professor for the Boston University School of Medicine, Department of Anatomy & Neurobiology. He holds a joint appointment, at the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine, with both the Department of Pathology and the Department of General Dentistry as an Associate Professor. He is a core faculty member and Director of the Forensic Odontology Program at the University of Tennessee, the only postgraduate curriculum of its kind in the country to offer intensive case-based exposure and training for residents in the field of Forensic Dentistry. Dr. Marks was instrumental in launching the program in 2014.

Dr. Marks earned his Doctorate in Anthropology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, his Master of Arts in Biological Anthropology from the University of Arkansas, and his Bachelors of Science degree in Anthropology from Illinois State University. In addition, he is a board certified forensic anthropologist, and consults with the East Tennessee Medical Examiner’s Office, national (FBI), state (TBI), and local law enforcement officials. His research interests lie in mineralized tissue biology and histology, dental enamel histopathology, skeletal trauma histology, fetal dental development, soft tissue decomposition, bioarcheology, and human identification/forensic anthropology.
