Dr. Mingfang Su graduated from the department of oral medicine at the former Shanghai Second Medical School in 1977. After graduation, he worked in the department of stomatology at Shanghai Ruijin Hospital. In 1982, he enrolled as a graduate student under Professors Zhang Xize and Qiu Weiliu, who are highly respected masters in Chinese oral surgery. After coming to the US in 1984, he studied clinical periodontology at Boston University and Mayo Clinic, obtaining the United States periodontics specialists diploma and dentistry practicing license in 1989. He has been teaching periodontics and implant dentistry at the Boston University dental school, and has supervised post-doctorate students in periodontal and implant dentistry .

With 36 years of clinical experience and many years of teaching, Dr. Su is a senior clinical professor at Boston University. In the recent two decades, Dr. Su has devoted himself to clinical periodontal disease and oral implantology research. He has engaged in editing and writing textbooks on periodontal and implant operations and has trained a large number of senior professionals in those fields. He has also frequently served as a training professional for AAID. He has been invited to give lectures abroad and has presented well-received subject talks at the Oral Implant Annual Meeting of China.
