Dr. Li received her MD in Medicine from the University of Illinois in Chicago. She did a Pediatrics residency at Stanford Lucile Packard Hospital for Children in Palo Alto, California. She then completed a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship at Texas Children’s Hospital at Baylor College of Medicine. She obtained an MPH in Epidemiology at University of Texas in Houston.

Dr. Li’s main research interest includes investigating the quality of pediatric emergency care in community EDs and pediatric interfacility transfers. She has done previous work in triage teams and the role of primary care providers in emergency department utilization.
